Our 1st Noel ~ Scraps of Darkness

I made this page using the Midnight Garden Kit from August. This lo is also entered in 2 challenges at SOD, their Darkest Side Challenge and Holiday Technique Challenge. Some embellies came from the new December Kit, Time Flies...the star, bow and silver ribbon. The reindeer, title, flower and beads are from my stash. These are my girls in Dec 2002.

I decorated these trees using beads.

This beautiful flower was made by Veronica. I Added the silver leaf behind it.

Joy

This is a page I made to frame for my family's White Elephant gift exchange ( I better watch them fight over it or else lol). I have some amazing friends who contributed to this lo. Thank you so much. This is almost all of us at our annual family Christmas party in 2009.

I really tried to do something different, so I did some wet distressing and added some lace to some corners. I made my own garland with ribbon, candy canes and bows.

The gold leaves, I cut from a big arrangement.

The reindeer is an ornament from the dollar store.

The presents are ornaments, that I cut in half and rearranged to fit better on the page.

Genuine Rebel ~ Scraps of Darkness

Here is more of the November Rain kit. I had to make a rebel looking page with these papers for my son. I used the monthly sketch for this design. I changed it up quite a bit, making it more masculine than feminine to go with my theme. My son at Chuck E Cheese in June 2010.

I cut this skull out of the grunge paper, inked it with different browns and black. Then I used the crackle accents to finish it off. I also used the stamp on the grunge paper. I used a lot of my gold stars, which some I hot glued into the bottle caps.

I misted my TH letters with Slate, and added a my swivel chain with token as part of the title.

Despair ~ Scraps of Darkness

Here is my very first emotional page. This design was inspired by November Stuck?! sketch. I used the November Rain kit to help show my sad feelings. I think I really accomplished exactly what I feel. The picture was taken at the Angel's B-ball game that I got to attend as a contestant to win the house we were trying to buy. I was one of 6 people that had a chance to win. Then in the end we couldn't afford to even purchase this new house which we would be moving into this week. So I kept the picture of me in color and put the stadium in black and white to show the feelings of loneliness and emptiness. My hidden journal says: "To be so close to reaching your dream and than losing it completely, leaves such an emptiness in your heart." I had a chance of a lifetime...to win the house of our dreams. I didn't even come close. Then we lost it all together. Sep. 2010

I used crackle paint and some ink for my broken heart. I punched some holes in the corner to represent the holes left in me. Of course these skull flowers explain bad and hurt.

The cracks are showing more broken pieces of me. The stitching is trying to hold some pieces of me together.

Boogie Nights ~ Scraps of Darkness

This is the November kit called Rain. I love how funky and wild this kit is. I did this page for the Darkest Side Challenge over at SOD. We are to scrap our wild side. So here is my husband and I dancing in Sep 2009. I did a lot of layering to show all the crazy papers and added some stamping in the corners with some music notes.

The bar code is a rub on. The white mesh and silver foil are flowers from my stash that I layered and placed the butterflies on. The swirls are stickers.

Scraps of Darkness *October kit* ~ Boo-tiful

Another page from the Nevermore kit I Guest Designed for. This one became very elegant which I love the results. I am telling you, this kit has so many choices and ways to go for designs. I did this to share in the Darkest Side Challenge over at SOD. These are my girls in 2007.

Here is the pretty pin that comes with the kit made by Mandy.

I used a stamp from the kit as part of the title and added some of my own letters to complete it. Both of which I put on other paper and cut them out to place here.

I used some stickles for the spider and candle flames.

I hand stitched inside this circle and added some of my own bling.

Scraps of Darkness *October kit* ~ Spirit of the Moon

Here is another exciting page from the Nevermore kit that I Guest Designed for. This Ouija paper was really perfect for my family's photo taken at a mystical store called Spirit of the Moon. They went there to have their fortunes read. I added my charms to my thread and my little alphas to complete the page. Everything else is from the kit. From left to right: my aunt, my brother, his wife, my sister and my mom. April 2007.

I added these cute charms to my lacing so they dangle around and touch exactly the right words in the title. I also added some tulle to my fold overs for more texture. The large alphas were inked and misted.

I wanted to show some cut work I did so I could use as much Ouija paper as I could. I used a black pen to darken the words on the hand.

Scraps of Darkness *October kit* ~ Fall Asleep

This page was created from the Nevermore kit that Guest Designed for. I have had this idea in my head since I took the picture a year ago and was finally able to make it using this kit. I think this theme worked out beautifully. The tree, pumpkins, borders, alphas and gate are from my stash. This is my son on H-ween in 2009. Journal tag behind the pic reads: T'was the day of Halloween and all through the house all creatures were stirring...and here's Andrew with Nigh-nite tucked away at his feet dreaming of what he'll get later when he goes Trick or Treat.

These foiled leaves worked so well with hot glue. They took on a crumpled look that I wasn't expecting but loved the outcome. Those cattails came from a previous SOD kit. I also used Smooch paint from another SOD kit for the gate.

I wanted to show the layers I made from using the kit. I even stamped a journal tag on some of the paper and tucked it behind the photo.

Here is the elegantly spooky flower with pretty bling. The skull shown here is a stamp.

Here is the sparkly tulle that came in the kit. I tried to pleat it to add a little bit of charm to the page.

Scraps of Darkness *October Kit* ~ The Living Dead

This is the fabulous Nevermore kit I received to use as Guest Designer. I love all the little embellishes that were included with this kit as well as the very versatile papers. Even the packaging is usable for a page, which I used the big skull shown here. The string, creepy gauze, alphas, cotton and tombstone came from my stash. This is my creepy husband in 2006 on H-ween.

I love these tiny skull beads. They work perfectly with the lacing I love to add to my pages. Teh web is made from cotton and I added a spider that came with the kit.
Here is the creepy cloth I picked up at my dollar store. I used mod podge to glue it down.

Stickles was used to create a bloody look on this skull I cut out from some packaging.

I used a cotton ball to make a foggy look for this haunted mansion.

Scraps of Darkness *October kit* ~ Spooky

I was honored to be the Guest Designer for this Nevermore kit!!! I just love the darkness that this kit provided along with many other styles. This is designed from the sketch provided by Mandy (Craftysprinkles) which I just loved. I thought these browns and black colors went great with my neighbor's picture taken in 2006 at my H-ween party.

I cut the crow from another paper to add more spook. The web and spider got Stickled. Aren't these Prima flowers wonderful!!

I used Smooch for these alphas and added these terrific little brads. I also did a lot of inking to darken some areas up some more.

Scraps of Darkness *October kit* ~ Fairy Tales

I am so thrilled to share that I am the Guest Designer for this Nevermore kit!! I just love it all. How can you not? I couldn't believe the endless gorgeous embellies that came along as a Romance add on. Here is my page of enchantment. The pearls, alphas and beads are from my stash. These are my girls dressed as a fairy and a princess in 2006.

I love this velvet ribbon....talk about romantic!!! The metal frame corner is to die for.

Of course these Love Letter Roses are just breathtaking. I added the pearls just for a touch more romance. Even the Prima packaging had to be used.

This vine is exquisite and matched perfectly with these Guava Peony Brahms.

Scraps of Darkness *October kit* ~ Haunting Hour

I am happy to announce that I am the Guest Designer for this awesome Nevermore kit...talk about being honored!!! It is full of so many opportunities that you just have to see it for yourself. INDULGE!!! This page is more crazy, funky and traditional styles all wrapped in one. The thread, black letters, ghost and clock came from my stash. This is my nephew, niece, brother and his wife at my H-ween party in 2005.

I cut this spider out, added Stickles and a pop up dot. I misted this flower with the awesome Shimmerz Spritz that came with the kit.

I loved making this web and adding these cool skull beads. I thought this title looked great with the haunted clock in the bg.

Vintage ~ Scraps of Darkness

This is from the awesome Simply Steam Punk September kit that I got to play with. I did this page for the Darkest Side challenge over at SOD. The topic was fashion. I am not big on fashion personally so I choose my Grandmother who was always dressing in the 9s. Even during the war, 1942 when this pic was taken, she was looking good. I did a lot of cutting, and added some lacing. The eyelets and ribbon are from my stash.

I inked with vintage photo stain.

I love these photo corner stickers.

Really fabulous designs to chose from on the papers, when you cut them out.

My lacing with eyelets. I have a tutorial from an earlier page on how to lace if you want to check it out.
