Despair ~ Scraps of Darkness

Here is my very first emotional page. This design was inspired by November Stuck?! sketch. I used the November Rain kit to help show my sad feelings. I think I really accomplished exactly what I feel. The picture was taken at the Angel's B-ball game that I got to attend as a contestant to win the house we were trying to buy. I was one of 6 people that had a chance to win. Then in the end we couldn't afford to even purchase this new house which we would be moving into this week. So I kept the picture of me in color and put the stadium in black and white to show the feelings of loneliness and emptiness. My hidden journal says: "To be so close to reaching your dream and than losing it completely, leaves such an emptiness in your heart." I had a chance of a lifetime...to win the house of our dreams. I didn't even come close. Then we lost it all together. Sep. 2010

I used crackle paint and some ink for my broken heart. I punched some holes in the corner to represent the holes left in me. Of course these skull flowers explain bad and hurt.

The cracks are showing more broken pieces of me. The stitching is trying to hold some pieces of me together.

Boogie Nights ~ Scraps of Darkness

This is the November kit called Rain. I love how funky and wild this kit is. I did this page for the Darkest Side Challenge over at SOD. We are to scrap our wild side. So here is my husband and I dancing in Sep 2009. I did a lot of layering to show all the crazy papers and added some stamping in the corners with some music notes.

The bar code is a rub on. The white mesh and silver foil are flowers from my stash that I layered and placed the butterflies on. The swirls are stickers.

Scraps of Darkness *October kit* ~ Boo-tiful

Another page from the Nevermore kit I Guest Designed for. This one became very elegant which I love the results. I am telling you, this kit has so many choices and ways to go for designs. I did this to share in the Darkest Side Challenge over at SOD. These are my girls in 2007.

Here is the pretty pin that comes with the kit made by Mandy.

I used a stamp from the kit as part of the title and added some of my own letters to complete it. Both of which I put on other paper and cut them out to place here.

I used some stickles for the spider and candle flames.

I hand stitched inside this circle and added some of my own bling.

Scraps of Darkness *October kit* ~ Spirit of the Moon

Here is another exciting page from the Nevermore kit that I Guest Designed for. This Ouija paper was really perfect for my family's photo taken at a mystical store called Spirit of the Moon. They went there to have their fortunes read. I added my charms to my thread and my little alphas to complete the page. Everything else is from the kit. From left to right: my aunt, my brother, his wife, my sister and my mom. April 2007.

I added these cute charms to my lacing so they dangle around and touch exactly the right words in the title. I also added some tulle to my fold overs for more texture. The large alphas were inked and misted.

I wanted to show some cut work I did so I could use as much Ouija paper as I could. I used a black pen to darken the words on the hand.

Scraps of Darkness *October kit* ~ Fall Asleep

This page was created from the Nevermore kit that Guest Designed for. I have had this idea in my head since I took the picture a year ago and was finally able to make it using this kit. I think this theme worked out beautifully. The tree, pumpkins, borders, alphas and gate are from my stash. This is my son on H-ween in 2009. Journal tag behind the pic reads: T'was the day of Halloween and all through the house all creatures were stirring...and here's Andrew with Nigh-nite tucked away at his feet dreaming of what he'll get later when he goes Trick or Treat.

These foiled leaves worked so well with hot glue. They took on a crumpled look that I wasn't expecting but loved the outcome. Those cattails came from a previous SOD kit. I also used Smooch paint from another SOD kit for the gate.

I wanted to show the layers I made from using the kit. I even stamped a journal tag on some of the paper and tucked it behind the photo.
