Scraps of Darkness *Aug Kit* ~ Happy Day

Another page using the fabulous Envy Kit from Scraps of Darkness.   For this design I used Dusty Attic's August sketch.  These are my kids in November 2009.

Here I am trying to show some of the layers I made on the border, along with some journal cards, and the embellies.  Everything was part of the kit except for the DA piece, which came in a previous kit.
My fellow DT sista, Renea, made an awesome tutorial on showing us some very creative ways on how to decorate chipboard.  Thanks girl!  I used the idea of clumping Lindy's Magicals paint for this distressed look.

Scraps of Darkness *Aug Kit* ~ Live Brightly

I just adore this Envy kit from Scraps of Darkness.  It is so full of so many pretty things.  I made this page, lifting Sarah's lo for the RR challenge over at SOD for week 2 team 1.  This is Gisselle after her haircut in December 2010.

I made that zipper flower!!  I am so proud of myself for making it look half way decent, since I really don't have the knack to make my own embellishments.  Those awesome black die cuts came from Mandy's (craftysprinkles) etsy shop.

That key is a Scrapmatt chippie.  I painted it with black gesso then added some of Lindy's gold embossing powder.  I used a lot of silver glitter paint all over the page.

Scraps of Darkness & Sketches: Creatively Yours ~ Mr & Mrs

It is reveal day again for Sketches: Creatively Yours.  This is sketch 14-11 designed by Ali McDonald.  Please visit the blog for more wonderful inspiration and to share your take on this outstanding sketch.  We are also on Facebook.
This is my take on the sketch using the August Scraps of Darkness kit called Envy, full of so much chic beauty.  I saw Ali's sketch and knew these papers would give the same beautiful effect she drew out.  I used some lace and tulle to keep the soft vintage look for my parents wedding photos, June 1960.
I loved the posies that came with the kit.  A very different and unquie way to use a floral arrangement.
I did some lacing to tie all the photos together in the design.
Here you can see the different layers and punching.

Scraps of Darkness Reveal *August Kit*

I think this is the most exciting day of the month for me....Reveal Day!!!  Today I want to share with you, the latest Scraps of Darkness Kit called Envy.  Only Scraps of Darkness would do a switch up so drastic, going from bright and bold colors last month to these much softer hues.  This kit is full of romance and packed with beauty.  This kit contains the new Chanteuse Collection from Kaisercraft, new papers from The Robin's Nest, Zva, some fabulous Mistables from Pink Paislee and more.  Don't forget we have tons of wonderful items in the add-ons.

This is the sketch provided with the Envy Kit by Suepup.  It is so elegant and glamorous.

Here is my take on Suepup's sketch, called "Pure Love".  This photo was taken at Christmas time in 2009 of my family, so I wanted this page to be rich and sparkly.  These Robin's Nest papers are full of glitter and dazzle.  I used some gold items from a previous kit to add more festive cheer.

This lovely beauty is Prima, surrounded by Petaloos.  I used the Versa Magic Ink pad to color this Mistable die cut and added one of the Making Memories brads to the middle of it.
 See how it sparkles.
I feel in love with these Kasiercraft papers.  Of course I had just the right photos of my puppies to use for this page.  I call this page "Reflections" due to the mirrors and how my puppies look alike.  I did a lot of fussy cutting, painting and stitching for this shabby chic look.  Angel and K-Oz May 4, 2011.

This clock is a Scrapmatt chippie from the SOD shoppe.  I used both of the Lindy's mists that came in the color add-on.  These posies from Kaisercraft are gorgeous.
This butterfly is another Scrapmatt chippie I got from the SOD shoppe.  I used some of Lindy's Magicals that came in the color add-on to paint the butterfly.  I also added the beads and diamond dust.

I rolled up the paper to tuck in some of the glittery Petaloo flowers and pink roses (from my stash).

Once I saw these Robin's Nest papers with the dark colors, I had to make a Gothic page.  This is called "U R The Key", referring to my dh and how he has my heart.  I did a lot of lacing in the bg and added a few things from previous SOD kits & my stash to make my dark look complete.  My dh and I in April 2007.

This exquisite butterfly is Prima, along with these pretty flowers.  I used black ink for this Mistable die cut.  The maroon roses were some white ones colored by alcohol ink.
I love these Melissa Frances frames.  This one was white, that I painted with Black Gesso adding some of Lindy's Mist to give it a real shimmer.
The DA was from my stash, but I painted them, and used some more of Lindy's shimmer mist.  And it really stands out against the black.

With all the green in this kit, I wanted to make a nature page mixed with vintage.  I had this photo of my mom and came up with "Make Your Own Pathway".  This photo was taken in the 1950's.
I combined the leaves with some different flowers adding a Blue Moon Charm of a Cookoo Clock.  The Zva bling is on part of the Mistables packaging.  The bird and nest is a Webster's journal card.

I did some lacing using my scallop dot punch and ribbon from my stash.

The bird and branch are felt Mistables from Pink Paislee.  I used Lindy's Magicals paints to color them.

Wicked Couple ~ Scraps of Darkness

This page was created using the Magic of Oz, Scraps of Darkness, limited edition kit.  I love the versatility of these papers.   This is my 4th creation, and I went to the dark side for it.  I made this lifting Mel's "I Do" page, for the RR Challenge, team 2 week 4, over at Scraps of Darkness.  This is my BIL, his wife and daughter at our H-ween party in 2009.
These are my Wicked Witch Flowers, which I made a tutorial for them, and you can see it HERE.

I cut these hand drawn bats out of canvas, painted them with black gesso and added glitter mod podge.  Those branches are DA which I used alcohol ink on.
This iron fence is also DA.  I used black gesso sparingly over it, to make the rusty old look.

Scraps of Darkness & Sketches: Creatively Yours ~ My Serenity

It is reveal day again for Sketches: Creatively Yours.  And this sketch 12-11 by Ali McDonald leaves a lot of room for versatility.  We would love to see what you come up with, so please stop at our blog and share!!  We are also on Facebook.
This is my interpretation of Ali's sketch.  I used some more of July's Marrakesh Express kit from Scraps of Darkness.  When I got a hold of this photo of my SIL I really wanted to make a page of surreal beauty.  My SIL is very special.  She has been fighting cancer and tumors for many years, making miracles happen daily.  So looking at this peaceful picture with her and some of her babies in her beloved garden, I wanted to really show how she has a special place in my heart.  I love you Jeanie!!!!!  2011

I used these Scrapmatt chippies to enclose the photo.  Those Prima flowers came from an older kit.
I used a DA birdbath from my stash to accent the garden.  The gorgeous butterfly came in this kit.
