Left 4 Dead ~ Scraps of Darkness

This is the story of my life...."Left for Dead".  It happens to me all of the time.  I always feel like I get pushed aside to sit and wait forever.  I say it so often, my kids told me I say it all of the time.  I guess I refer it to my dh the most.  I can ask him for something, and it will take months before he tends to it....typical right?  I made this for the Skeleton's in Your Closet Challenge over at Scraps of Darkness.  The theme was to scrap a saying used in your life using a photo that is not a person.  Well this is a photo of one of my H-ween props from Oct 2010.  I used a lot of previous SOD kit products as well as some things from the SOD shoppe, and some more from my stash.

I am also entering this in one of Dusty Attic's Birthday Challenges (#4) using fibers.  I managed to use 6 different forms of fiber.  Cottonball for fog, fabric softener sheet for webs, a grey creepy cloth for the graveyard ground & black for the photo frame, orange wiry burlap ribbon for the peek a boos, a web ribbon and fabric behind the photo.  The skull is DA.  I used crackle paint over black Glimmer Glam.  I stamped the graveyard fence, and punched the tombstones.
This black widow is DA.  I used mod podge to hold down the black fibers around the photo.

Scraps of Darkness *July Kit* ~ Pretty Princess

So when I saw this kit, Marrakesh Express from Scraps of Darkness, I imagined richness and royalty.  And the one in my household  that is treated with royalty, is Angel, my puppy.   So I made this DT page featuring Angel in her crown, and trust me she acts like it.  She is feisty and spoiled, full of spunk.  With the Darkest Side Challenge over at SOD  using the theme of Spice of Life, she is my spice and I will be entering this page to share.   The photo was taken on July 17, 2011.

I used a sketch from Stuck on U Sketches by Nanne Harry as my guide.  I didn't have a big enough circle, so I went in another direction with some of my layers and placement of things, to make up for the lack of bigness.

I am also entering this in the Dusty Attic Birthday Challenge #3, using a raw mini vine.

I wanted to use all my shiny embellishes full of richness for this page.
The big flourish is a rub on.  The raw DA vine is on the photo here.

Scraps of Darkness *July Kit* ~ It's the Life

And now we continue with some more DT on the adventure to the far east with this exquisite Marrakesh Express kit from Scraps of Darkness.  I used the new #230 sketch from Sketch Inspiration for this design, but I did switch it up a bit.  I once again used some more of my photos from the shoot I took at a local park.  My kids in April 2011.

I used some of the butterflies that my fellow DT member provided for all of us to use....thanks!!!  This kit came with a lot of die cuts, I used here, layering them up.  Plus I did some fussy cutting to add to those layers.

Munchkin ~ Scraps of Darkness

I can't get enough of this limited edition, "Over the Rainbow" kit from Scraps of Darkness.  I adore these papers so much, and love using them with some of my vintage photos as well as adding a little steampunk to the page.  for this page I used sketch #229 from Sketch Inspiration.  This is my dad in 1942, he looks just like a Munchkin to me, from the movie.
I used quite a bit of older embellies from previous kits.  The green flower, G45 papers and thick chipboard tag came in this kit.

What's in your Basket? ~ Scraps of Darkness & Sketches: Creatively Yours

Here is another outstanding sketch to inspire you by our guest sketch artist, Suepup, over at Sketches: Creatively Yours.  I hope you will stop by and see what the rest of the DT made for your viewing pleasure, and you will participate and leave a page for us to admire, using this sketch.  We are also on Facebook.
So this is my take on this week's sketch.  I was so happy to use the Scraps of Darkness new limited edition kit, called "Over the Rainbow".  I had this photo shoot planned out, just for these terrific Magic of Oz paper collection from G45.  So once again, here are my fur babies on May 31, 2011.

I used the vine as my flourish, cutting it up and spreading it around. I used a lot of layers to frame the page and the photo.

Lullaby League ~ Scraps of Darkness

This Over the Rainbow kit is super exciting!!  It is a limited edition kit from Scraps of Darkness.  This is a box full of  the new Graphic 45 Magic of Oz papers, with some other perfectly matched goodies.  I was so happy I got my hands on one!!!!

I made this page using a Stuck on u Sketch by Nanne Harry, and loved how it turned out.  This is a photo of my mom, probably in the early 1950's, in one of her ballerina costumes.  So I went with the theme of those ballerina Munchkins called the Lullaby League for this page.
I used some Prima pearls and small flowers from my stash to help me complete the details I needed for this sketch.
I did a lot of punching, and really liked the way it helped soften the page.  This is a tag of Glinda the good witch, that overlooked the Munchkins.
I love the thick chipboard that was part of the kit....the tickets were part of those tags.

KA-POW

Here is a quick page, I made using a Punky Scraps sketch to show off my son being a normal boy lol.  He was punching a bag in our garage in Jan 2010.
I painted the cartoon papers with some Twinkling H20 shimmer paints.

Scraps of Darkness Reveal *July Kit*

It is that time of the month for another exciting reveal from Scraps of Darkness!!  This is the very vibrant and rich July Kit called "Marrakesh Express".  The kit comes with the new Creative Imaginations Marrakesh line of papers and die cuts, Prima and Petaloo flowers, and tons more.  Please visit us for an adventure you won't be disappointed with.
Here is a new, fun and beautiful sketch by Suepup for this month's kit.
This is my take on her sketch.  I love how these papers can make it look like you are traveling the world.  These are my girls at a nearby park in April 2011.  I titled this page "Lean on Me" since the girls posed just so and they will always have each other's backs.
I used a Twinkling H2O shimmer watercolor for the distressing.  In my circle die cuts I used some rub-ons.

I came up with this design because the paper showed me the way.  I cut a circle out of it, and pushed back the edges, using black ink for a more distressed look.    My kids came up with this title "Ooh La La", which I thought was cute.  April 2011
Here is Mandy's gorgeous pin for this month, that comes in the Romance Add-on.  I love this Prima gem flower, anything that dangles and sways, catches my attention.
Close up of more cool toned  Prima  beauties.
I used an older Sketches: Creatively Yours sketch by Suepup to make this darker page.  I wanted to show off this beautiful Prima vine and butterfly, and this sketch was just right to do it.  Jasmine and I were at a party in Sep 2009, and she wanted the title to be "Like Mother Like Daughter".
I added some misted moss to the vine for more texture as well as some extra flowers.
I also misted this shiny paper to darken it up.  There is a rub-on added to the corner.  Since I was short on time, I used a stitching short cut....marker lol.

With these summery colors, I had to make a summer page.  This design was inspired by an older Stuck On You sketch.  I did use some older embellies from previous kits to pull off a pool side atmosphere.  Here is Gisselle in the Summer of 2009...."Soak it Up".
I used another Twinkling H20 paint for the large alphas.  I put some sand in the bottle that came from my backyard.  I pulled the burlap apart alittle bit for a worn look.
I used the Prima mask that came in the Color Add-on with some Shimmerz mist.  These are the butterflies that Renea shared with us this month.

Torn ~ Scraps of Darkness

I made this page for Lisa's Skeleton's in Your Closet Challenge over at Scraps of Darkness.  We had to use the song, "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls as our inspiration.  I stuck with using one verse inparticular, since it fits along with some things going on in my life, with my family right now.   I have a lot of hurt, anger and sadness built up, so I hope this shows my feelings?

I used mod podge to hold the black creepy cloth I put on top of the canvas, that I painted with black gesso and sprayed with Smooch.   I used a few things from different kits, and the rest came from my stash.
I tore the bleeding heart image, stapled it, put a clasp on top and wrapped it in chains to represent a heavy and torn up heart.
I wanted to use zippers to show that I am still silent about the hurt and trying to hide it, otherwise I would no longer have a relationship with some of my family members.

Here is the verse I used from the song.

Scraps of Darkness & Sketeches: Creatively Yours ~ Adore

We have some exciting news over at Sketches: Creatively Yours!!!  Charlotte aka Suepup, is guest designing as our Sketch Artist for the month of July!  So here is the first sketch to be inspired by!  I hope you stop by and share your creation with us on our blog.  We are also on Facebook.
Here is my take on Char's sketch.  I used the awesome June kit from Scraps of Darkness called Welcome to the Jungle.  I loved all the Prima that came in this kit.  So I really wanted to show off the vine and decorative border.  So I used some of the cardstock so the pattern paper wouldn't take away from the beauty of these goodies.
Of course I had to show off my puppies again lol.  These photos are from the first day we got them on April 29, 2011.
The birdcage, Spanish moss, small green flowers and alphas came from previous kits.  I did tuck in some small pieces of the Zoology paper, to add some more detail.
