Our History ~ Scraps of Darkness

This is the Vintage Revelry kit from March. The Graphic 45 papers are so much fun to cut apart and make the page into a story. I used SOD's sketch by Suepup for inspiration. This is my great great aunt in 1942. They say I look like her??

Here is the pin made by Mandy that came with the kit. I love the little key that is dangling from it. All the lovely flowers and butterflies were made by Veronica.

Old Family Roots ~ Scraps of Darkness

Again, another page made from the new Foundations kit for April. Love it!!! This page is based on the SOD sketch by Suepup. I flipped it around so it could go with the paper. This is my great grandfather, Ziba in 1924. I love how they dressed so nice back then.
I had to do some lacing with using the TH reinforcers that came in the kit.

I used a swivel chain to connect his pocket to a pocket watch.

A Step Back in Time ~ Scraps of Darkness

Here is the new kit called Foundations for April!! And I love these Bo Bunny papers!! I just couldn't wait. And the burlap came in this kit which tickled me pink!! I have wanted burlap forever and finally got a nice sized piece of it. This page is based on a sketch (#213)over at Sketch Inspiration. This is my mom and I in April 2007. I miss her so much!!!!

Just Jordon ~ Scraps of Darkness

This canvas came in the Vintage Revelry kit. It was the first one I have ever used. I tried to do my own masks, and it wasn't working out so I went mist crazy. I thought I ruined this, but ended up using my mistakes to my advantage. This is my dog Just Jordon (his formal name). He joined my mom in heaven shortly after she left. It proves you can die of a broken heart.Jordon lived 12 wonderful years. This pic was taken in Feb 2001.

This beautiful vine was made by Kay. She has a wonderful etsy shop full of beautiful things. I added Jordon's tag and some of his fur to the page.

This cute bird house came from SOD's shoppe.

Girls Rock ~ Scraps of Darkness

Here is the cool image that Punky Scraps used for the March challenge inspiration.

This is the page I came up with. I used the November Rain kit from SOD and a Sketch Inspiration #212 sketch to create this page. These are my girls in June 2010.

This guitar is an iron on.

I got this cool pin from winning a challenge at SOD from Lisa, made by Mandy.

1 Unlucky Fella ~ Scraps of Darkness

I went back to my older Simply Steam punk kit for this page. I have been waiting for the right oppertunity to scrap this photo, since it has such a tragic history. I made this for 2 challenges. One is the Steam Punk Challenge at http://www.scrapbook.com/, with the theme of luck. Instead of going with good luck I went in the other direction. The other challenge is for Punky Scraps.
The challenge there is to use 3/5 ingredients. Well I guess I went over board and ended up using all of them lol. Distressing, black/white photo, flowers, sparkle and misting.
This is my great grandfather. Journal: This photo was taken during 1925, the same year Ziba was hijacked, robbed and shot to death on July 4th.

I found the oldest penny I have and it is dated 1919, so I figured this could have been in his pocket at the time of robbery. I used some parts that came from a VHS machine and cut outs.

I was going for an old newspaper look, but ran out of pp for the job. But I already drew my sketch and continued with my design anyway.

Big ~ Scraps of Darkness

I used an older kit, November Rain, to make this page. In SOD's shoppe there are mini kits that have these papers that you can get your hands on if you want ;) I made this page for the Paint/Mist Challenge over at http://www.scrapbook.com/ and for the March sketch challenge at Punky Scraps
I used Mandy Harrell's tut for the misting and stamping. Those tiny stars and other shape are temporary tattoos.
This is Andrew in June 2010. The journal reads: "When I get bigger I want to be a giant".

I misted and inked the TH letters. I used bubble wrap for the stamping technique.

I tried using some gold embossing powder over the mist on this swirl, and this is the results.

Remembering a Story ~ S:CY & Scraps of Darkness

This was made from the new and fabulous Vintage Revelry kit for March, which can be found here http://www.scrapsofdarkness.com/ I used a Creativity Yours Sketch (01-11) for inspiration. Link: http://creativelyyourssketches.blogspot.com/ I made my own bg with the new Paris stamps that came with the kit. The color-add on is super awesome. There are 7 mists to this and I used 2 of them fro masking. My grandma and Buddy, the dog, in 1939.

That clock is a Prima stencil that came in a previous color add on.
I did a lot of layering and distressing.

Halloween in Wonderland ~ Scraps of Darkness

This page was so much fun to make. As soon as I saw the doorknob that came in the March kit, Vintage Revelry, I knew I had to make this Wonderland page. I got the Graphic 45 papers from SOD's shoppe and I was even saving that little message bottle for this page, that came in a previous kit. Those hands on the clock also came in the March kit. So many unique goodies come in SOD's kits...I love it!!! My kids on H-ween in 2009.

The clock and key came from my stash. I put the clock upside down on purpose along with the title being upside down too, since Wonderland is so crazy anyway. I made the green potion in the bottle that says Drink Me with the large tea set. At the bottom of the table, there is a small cake that says Eat Me with a small tea set.

Here is the new Graphic 45 Door Knob. I thought it looks just like the one on the cartoon movie.

Preserving the Past ~ Scraps of Darkness

Here is the new kit for March called Vintage Revelry. I love the muted brown tones, perfect for my old photos. The color-add on this month is flipping amazing!! There were so many mists, I didn't know what to start off with. I will enjoy using each one of them. A package of birdcages came in this kit as well, that are all outstanding. This is my dad, grandma and aunts back in 1949.

I spruced up this birdcage, first misting it with some Moon Shadow mists, then inking it with gold. I used a vine, butterfly, key and lock to finish it off (all from my stash).

I cut out a lot of these flowers from one of the patterned papers. The Petaloo flowers were from an older kit. The rub-on is also from my stash.

School Girls

I made this page for the Cosmo Cricket Challenge at SB.com. I made everything by hand, using tutorials by Shona and Karen. All I had was pp, so I needed to get creative. Everything but the pearls, black alphas and twine were from My Girl Friday's paper pack. My girls on their first day of school. Sep 2006

My first banner!!

The flowers were made from Shona's Moms Flowers tutorial. The scalloped/pleated circle was made from Karen's tutorial.
